EDWARDS HAPPY TO BE THE SADDLERS’ ‘MR VERSATILE’

4 January 2017

Former Colchester man willing to play anywhere...

Joe Edwards is happy to be the Saddlers’ ‘Mr Versatile’.

The 26-year-old has played at right-back, central midfield and out wide since moving to the Banks’s Stadium from Colchester last summer.

And the ex-Yeovil captain insists he will play anywhere if it means being in the team.

“I just enjoy playing and I’ve always said that as long as I’m out on the pitch and playing games, then I’m happy,” said Edwards.

“To be able to play in different positions has always helped me.

“People have always said that I need to nail down one position, but my comeback is that if I’ve got one position and I don’t get picked, I won’t be in the team.

“The gaffer said some nice things about me recently, saying I can play in different positions and I’ll always do a job for him and that’s what I try to give.

“I’ll always give 100%, do as I’m told and do the job I need to do. I like working hard and running about.

“My versatility has always helped me playing wise, but as long as I’m helping the team and doing my job then I’ll be happy.”
