Congratulations to the four schools who have reached the finals of Walsall FC’s EFL Kids Cup competition.
Winning primary schools Ryders Hayes, Leighswood, Whetstone Field and Holy Trinity will meet again in February.
Run by Walsall FC Community Programme, over 30 schools have taken part in matches over the last month on the Banks’s Stadium Astro turf.
The EFL competition allows Year 5 and 6 pupils to take part in 6-a-side matches against other schools, with the opportunity to play at Wembley.
The winner of our four finalists will go on to represent Walsall FC at the League One South finals in Oxford in March, and they will also be flag bearers for our home fixture against MK Dons.
The North and South winners will then have the special reward of playing each other at Wembley Stadium before the League One Play-Off Final in May.
Paul Larvin, Community Manager for Education, said: “The Kids Cup always has a great turnout and it has been good to see so many schools applying for our competition again this year.”
“At the Community Programme, we are also planning to host more ‘football festivals’ in 2018, allowing children to play other schools in a fun, friendly and safe environment.”
