Walsall Football Club can confirm we have reached an agreement to cancel defender James O’Connor’s contract by mutual consent.
O’Connor becomes a free agent after spending three years at the Banks's Stadium, during which time the 32-year-old made 123 appearances for The Saddlers.
The centre-half joined the club in July 2014 after leaving Championship side Derby County.
“I’ve enjoyed my three years at Walsall and I’ll take lots of good memories from my time here,” said O’Connor.
“I really want to thank the fans for all their support in my time here, and I wish the club all the best.
“I’m so happy to have had my family come to watch me every week.”
The club thanks James for his service over the last three years, and wishes him all the very best in his future career.
Work remains ongoing to try to add to the squad ahead of this evening's transfer deadline at 11pm.
