WALSALL DRAWN AT HOME TO MACCLESFIELD IN FA CUP

17 October 2016

Saddlers to face non-league opposition...

Walsall have been drawn at home to National League side Macclesfield in the first round of the FA Cup.

The tie against John Askey's Silkmen, who are currently fifth in non-league's top tier, will take place during the weekend of November 5th and 6th.

The Saddlers won 2-0 at Moss Rose when the teams last met in a League Two fixture back in January 2007, thanks to a brace from Dean Keates.

Walsall also played Town in the FA Cup first round that season, but lost 1-0 at the Banks's in a replay after the initial tie finished goalless.

We also faced Macclesfield in an FA Cup second-round tie in 1997, winning 7-0 at Moss Rose with Roger Boli, John Hodge and Gary Porter each netting braces.
