SADDLERS PROGRESS IN BIRMINGHAM SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP

25 October 2016

Saddlers ease into the next round at the expense of Coventry United...

Three first half goals saw the Saddlers safely into the hat for the Second Round of the Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup with a comfortable victory over Coventry United on Tuesday night.

Goals from Cameron Peters, Jordon Sangha and Josh Ginnelly was enough to seal the win for John Ward's side on a chilly night in Warwickshire.

It took just 15 minutes for the Saddlers to break the deadlock, when youth team striker Cameron Peters converted a cross from the right hand side.

Jordon Sangha doubled the Saddlers lead 7 minutes later before Josh Ginnelly scored the pick of the bunch with a well executed free kick ten minutes before the break.

Ward included the likes of Isaiah Osbourne and George Dobson alongside youth team prospects Sam Tonks and Callum Cockerill Mollett in his starting line up and will be pleased with players application and professionalism when facing lower league opposition.

The Midlands League Premier Division hosts put up a gallant effort but it's the Saddlers who will progress into the second round.
