ROBERTS & VASSELL STAR AS CHESTER THRASH DOVER

3 October 2016

Roberts keeps fourth consecutive clean sheet...

Liam Roberts and Theo Vassell played the full 90 minutes for in-form Chester as they thrashed Dover 5-0 to move up to 12th in the National League.

Second-half goals from Johnny Hunt, James Alabi, Elliott Durrell, Craig Mahon and James Akintunde earned the Blues a resounding win, their biggest of the season.

Young Saddlers stopper Roberts impressed once again between the sticks and has now kept five clean sheets in nine outings for the club, including four in a row.

The Chester Chronicle gave him a 7/10 rating, commenting: “Another strong display, Roberts pulled off a number of key saves and kept the run of clean sheets going.”

Big result today and another clean sheet!!! Great support again onto Tuesday now! 👏🏻👌🏻

Fellow Saddler Vassell also received 7/10, with the Chester Chronicle adding: “He's really coming on. Was never beaten on the right flank and produced a superb last-ditch tackle to deny what seemed a certain Moses Emmanuel goal.”

The teenage defender has made 11 league appearances for City and scored his first professional goal in their 3-2 defeat at Barrow in August.
