EDWARDS: A CHANCE TO PUT THINGS RIGHT

25 November 2016

Midfielder wants immediate response...

Joe Edwards is determined to “put things right” when the Saddlers host Southend tomorrow afternoon.

Jon Whitney’s side fell to a heavy defeat at Rochdale on Tuesday night – and the former Yeovil midfielder says we must respond with a positive performance.

“It obviously hurt [losing to Rochdale],” admitted Edwards.

“I know some supporters in football don’t necessarily think it hurts players, but it does.

"We all want to do well, and in any business, if you’re not doing well at your job it’s going to affect you. We know we weren’t good enough – no excuses there.

“For one reason or another, it didn’t happen for us on Tuesday, but the good thing about football is that we’ve got a chance, in a matter of days, to turn that around.

“We’ve got a big game on Saturday and it’s a massive chance to put things right on the pitch, get the fans behind us and put in a real positive performance.

“It’s about the reaction and trying to stay positive. All the boys will be fighting for places and trying to prove something which often helps.

“It’s another opportunity for us to show how good we can be. There’s been a lot of talk about how good potentially we are, but we need now to put that in place.”
