SAWYERS STARS AS ST KITTS & NEVIS REACH NEXT ROUND

30 March 2016

Successive wins for the Sugar Boyz...

Playmaker Romaine Sawyers helped St Kitts and Nevis beat Antigua and Barbuda 1-0 to reach the second round of the Caribbean Cup.

Leicester midfielder Harrison Panayiotou, who is currently on loan at Scottish side Raith, netted the game’s only goal midway through the second half.

The Sugar Boyz were also victorious in their opening match of the Caribbean Cup three days ago - winning 2-0 against Aruba.

Sawyers was on target at the Trinidad Stadium, scoring St Kitts and Nevis’ second goal on the stroke of half-time when he capitalised on some lax defending to slot home.

Earlier, Panayiotou had opened the scoring for the visitors with a neat finish on 39 minutes.

The Sugar Boyz are through to the next stage of the Caribbean Cup as Group A winners after back-to-back victories.
