JORDY HIWULA RETURNS ON LOAN

4 March 2016

Striker joins on loan until the end of the season...

Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce that striker Jordy Hiwula has rejoined the club on an emergency loan from Huddersfield until 31st May 2016.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive spell with the Saddlers last term, scoring nine goals in 19 league appearances following a temporary switch from Manchester City.

Born in Manchester, the talented frontman progressed through City’s Academy and netted 19 goals in 30 matches for their development squad in 2013/14.

Capped by England at U19 level, Hiwula made his senior debut on loan at Yeovil in October 2014 and spent the second half of that campaign on loan at the Banks’s.

He completed a permanent transfer to Huddersfield last summer but was soon loaned out to Wigan, where he scored six times in 16 outings, before being recalled last month.

Hiwula, who can also be deployed out wide, will wear the number 31 shirt and is eligible for this weekend’s match against Barnsley, subject to the necessary clearance.

“The first time I came here I really enjoyed it,” said Hiwula.

“I played a lot of games, scored a lot of goals and I felt like I did really well. It’s good that I’ve got another chance to come back and show what I can do.

“I still speak to a few of the players and they’ve told me that everything at the club is pretty much the same.

“When I found out Walsall were interested in bringing me back here, it was hard to say no. I haven’t set myself any personal targets, I just want to come here and score some goals.

“It’s good to be back.”

Head coach Sean O’Driscoll added: “Jordy is someone who understands the philosophy and playing style of the club.

“He knows the players and how the squad operates and hopefully he will fit seamlessly back into the swing of things.

“We welcome Jordy and look forward to what we all hope will be a fruitful contribution to our season.”
