Forward has returned to Walsall on loan...Jordy Hiwula is delighted to be back at the Banks’s – and admits he feels like he’s never been away.
The 21-year-old striker has returned to Walsall on an emergency loan from Championship side Huddersfield until the end of the season.
The talented frontman enjoyed an impressive spell with the Saddlers last term, scoring nine goals in 19 matches following a temporary switch from Manchester City.
Hiwula opened his Walsall account just four minutes into his debut last February, when he came off the bench to head home our second goal in a 2-0 win at Doncaster.
And Hiwula, who is eligible for tomorrow’s League One fixture against Barnsley, is hoping to make another positive impact in his second spell at the club.
“I’m really pleased to be back,” said Hiwula.
“It actually feels like I’ve never been away. Everyone has been welcoming and it’s been easy for me to settle in because I know pretty much all the players.
“I scored within four minutes of coming on for my debut last time. That was a good start and I ended up doing well here. That’s why I wanted to come back.
“Hopefully I can get a lot of game time here and will get a chance tomorrow.
“I want to be out there showing what I can do. When I play, I’ll work hard and try to do well for the team.”
Hiwula played on loan for Walsall’s League One promotion rivals Wigan earlier this season and notched six goals in 16 league and cup outings.
And the forward believes the experience was worthwhile.
“I signed for Huddersfield in the summer and I didn’t feel like I’d get as much game time as I wanted,” he said.
“I thought it would be best to go out on loan. Wigan came in and I ended up going there. I felt I did well there.
“I was in and out of the team but I worked hard and it was good to go there and get some experience.”
