PRESTON 0-2 WALSALL - JPT Northern Area final first leg

Walsall moved a step closer to a first Wembley appearance after scoring two goals in the final six minutes to beat Preston.

The Lilywhites started well, with Jermaine Beckford twice testing Saddlers keeper Richard O’Donnell and Chris Humphrey blazing over.

Andy Taylor’s free-kick rattled the post for Walsall, who went on to enjoy the better of the second half.

And the Saddlers made the breakthrough six minutes from time, Anthony Forde curling a 25-yard free-kick into the far corner.

Four minutes later we doubled our lead, as Tom Bradshaw capitalised on a Scott Wiseman error to calmly slot home.

We were now just 90 minutes from Wembley…
