O'DRISCOLL: 'IT'LL BE A GOOD CONTEST'

2 January 2016

Walsall's first match of 2016 is against Rochdale this afternoon...

Head Coach Sean O’Driscoll is anticipating an entertaining encounter against Keith Hill’s Rochdale this afternoon.

The table-topping Saddlers have won five consecutive league matches and are unbeaten in seven at the Banks’s.

And O’Driscoll, who has a 100% winning record since taking charge, wants to start 2016 on a positive note.

“We want to keep our run going,” said O’Driscoll.

“Every game for us now is a cup final and if we can get that mentality, then we will give ourselves a good chance.

“That will be the approach, not just for Rochdale but for all the games.

“Hopefully the game against Rochdale will be as entertaining as Peterborough on Monday.

“Keith Hill is another manager who likes to get the ball down and play, so it’ll be a good contest.”

Left-back Rico Henry and top-scorer Tom Bradshaw could both feature this afternoon after recovering from ankle injuries.

Paul Downing was withdrawn through illness against Peterborough and will be assessed.

Youngsters Jordan Murphy and Amadou Bakayoko, whose contract has been extended until the end of the season, could be included in the matchday squad.

Midfielder Isaiah Osbourne (knee) is a long-term absentee.
