A Midlands derby at the Ricoh Arena tonight...
Sean O’Driscoll believes Walsall will face a stern test of their promotion credentials when they visit Midlands rivals Coventry this evening. The third-placed Saddlers can go top of League One with a win, although Tony Mowbray’s Sky Blues are also flying high in fourth and remain unbeaten at home.
And O’Driscoll, who has won four of his five competitive games as Walsall head coach, believes tonight’s top-of-the-table clash will be a “challenge”.
“The team have done tremendously to be where they are,” said O’Driscoll.
“It’s going to be difficult to maintain the level of performance week in, week out and we’ve got to keep our feet on the ground.
“There are a few tired legs in there and to go again against a high-scoring Coventry team is a big ask for us.
“But if you want to be successful, these are the challenges that you’ve got to overcome.”
Right-back Jason Demetriou missed the Saddlers’ FA Cup third-round victory at Brentford due to a minor knee injury but could return tonight.
Supporters can pay on the gate at the Ricoh Arena.
