LOAN WATCH: BAKAYOKO MAKES WORCESTER DEBUT

18 January 2016

A disappointing weekend for our loan stars...

JAMES BAXENDALE – MANSFIELD TOWN

Midfielder James Baxendale made his second Mansfield appearance in the Stags’ 3-1 reverse at AFC Wimbledon.

The 23-year-old, who scored a debut goal in last weekend’s victory over Stevenage, played 53 minutes of the League Two clash.

Mansfield started brightly, taking an 11th-minute lead courtesy of a Matt Green tap-in.

But play-off rivals Wimbledon staged a rousing second-half fightback, with goals from Lyle Taylor, Jonathan Meades and Adebayo Azeez sealing victory.

The result leaves Mansfield ninth in League Two, a point off the play-offs.

AMADOU BAKAYOKO & JORDAN MURPHY – WORCESTER CITY

Walsall forward Amadou Bakayoko was handed his Worcester debut in City’s dramatic 2-1 home loss against struggling Corby.

The 20-year-old, who joined the National League North side on a one-month youth loan on Friday, played 64 minutes of the Aggborough encounter.

Fellow Saddler Jordan Murphy was making his second Worcester debut, having scored two goals in eight loan appearances for the club last season.

The teenage striker played the full 90 minutes and was a constant attacking threat throughout, going close to scoring on three occasions.

But it was ultimately a disappointing day for City, as Ethan Ross’ injury-time own goal consigned them to defeat.

Worcester’s Shaun Donnellan had earlier cancelled out Duane Courtney’s first-half opener.
