FLEETWOOD VS. WALSALL: MATCH POSTPONED

26 January 2016

Game off...

Walsall's match at Fleetwood Town this evening has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

After heavy rain on the Fylde Coast, referee Scott Duncan deemed the Highbury Stadium pitch unplayable.

He said: “Dale Frith the groundsman here at Fleetwood has worked incredibly hard on the pitch, but there’s an awful lot of surface water still on it.

“The goalmouths are pretty treacherous and certainly on the far wings, and I have to take the players safety and the game as a spectacle into consideration.

“Unfortunately there’s too many suspect areas on the playing surface, with more heavy rain forecast I’m afraid.”

It is the second time this season that Walsall's match at Fleetwood has been called off.

The initial fixture, scheduled for 12th December, was also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

A new date for the Fleetwood match will be announced in due course.

All tickets for tonight's game will still be valid for the rearranged fixture. Those who cannot make the rearranged game are entitled to a full refund.
