BRENTFORD VS. WALSALL: RECENT MEETINGS

7 January 2016

Our last win over Brentford came in August 2012...

2013/14 SEASON

18th January 2014 – Walsall 1-1 Brentford – League One
Craig Westcarr earned Walsall a point and halted Brentford’s eight-match winning streak. Mark Warburton’s Bees, who started the day top but slipped to second, went ahead through Clayton Donaldson’s glancing header on 30 minutes. But the Saddlers equalised on the cusp of half-time, Craig Westcarr nodding in from close range.

24th August 2013 – Brentford 1-0 Walsall – League One
Clayton Donaldson’s first-half header lifted Brentford to fourth in League One and ended Walsall’s unbeaten start. The only goal came on 42 minutes, when Clayton Donaldson glanced home Shaleum Logan’s right-wing cross. Keeper Richard O’Donnell made a string of fine saves for the Saddlers, whose best chances fell to Craig Westcarr and Milan Lalkovic.

2012/13 SEASON

23rd February 2013 – Brentford 0-0 Walsall – League One
Chances were at a premium as in-form Walsall played out a goalless draw with promotion hopefuls Brentford. Uwe Rosler’s Bees fashioned the game’s clearer chances, with Clayton Donaldson's  volley striking the post and Marcello Trotta being denied by Walsall keeper Aaron McCarey. James Baxendale saw an effort blocked for the visitors.

1st September 2012 – Walsall 2-2 Brentford – League One
Brentford scored twice in the final four minutes to salvage a point from 2-0 down. Walsall appeared in complete control, after quick-fire strikes from Jamie Paterson and George Bowerman had given us a two-goal half-time advantage. But Jonathan Douglas halved the deficit on 86 minutes and Clayton Donaldson's last-minute header earned the Bees an unlikely draw.

11th August 2012 – Walsall 1-0 Brentford – Capital One Cup
Ashley Hemmings scored on his Walsall debut as the Saddlers beat 10-man Brentford to reach the League Cup second round. Hemmings’ fierce eighth-minute drive put the hosts ahead before Brentford’s Jake Reeves was sent off on 25 minutes for a foul on Adam Chambers. Walsall keeper David Grof thwarted Harry Forrester in the second half but the Saddlers comfortably held on.

2011/12 SEASON

12th January 2012 – Brentford 0-0 Walsall – League One
Jimmy Walker marked his club-record 530th Walsall appearance with a clean sheet in a dour goalless draw. The Saddlers stopper made a fine save from Clayton Donaldson late on, while his opposite number, Simon Moore, kept our Jon Macken’s long-range drive. Richard Taundry also cleared Donaldson’s effort off the line as Walsall played out a 12th draw of the season.

3rd September 2011 – Walsall 0-1 Brentford – League One
Clayton Donaldson’s first-half header gave Brentford a slender win and condemned Walsall to a first home defeat of the season. The Bees snatched the lead on 26 minutes, Myles Weston crossing for Donaldson to head past home keeper David Grof. Ryan Jarvis had Walsall’s best chance when he struck the inside of the post with a fine 25-yard strike.
