Striker targeting a top-two finish...
Tom Bradshaw says automatic promotion from League One is Walsall’s aim this season. The Saddlers are third in the division, two points behind leaders Burton, with an impressive 49 points from 25 matches.
And when asked if Walsall are targeting automatic promotion, Bradshaw said: “Definitely, it’s been the aim all season.
“Going into the new year top of the table, there’s only one ambition you can have and that’s to get automatic promotion.
“We’ve got every belief that we can do it.
“Last week was a bit of a blip against Rochdale but sometimes you need that to remind you that you’re not invincible.
“It makes you work harder to strive to be a better team with better characters.”
Bradshaw’s late volleyed equaliser earned Walsall a point at promotion-rivals Coventry on Tuesday evening.
And the striker believes it was a “massive” result in the context of our season.
"Psychologically, it was brilliant going to the Ricoh and not losing the game,” he said.
“Eventually teams will start to fade and we’ve just got to work hard to make sure it’s not us.
“It’s a strong position that we’re in and it’s a massive point because if Coventry would have won they would have gone above us.
“Dropping down to fourth, you’re starting to mix with the play-offs.
“If we can now get three points at Bury on Saturday, it makes it an even better draw.”
The Saddlers take on the Shakers at Gigg Lane tomorrow afternoon (kick-off 3.00pm).
