Qualification to help with sports coaching and school visits...
All of Walsall FC Community Programme’s full-time staff have gained a new qualification to help with their sports coaching. For around 18 months, the staff have worked on a course called ‘Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport’ at level three.
All members of staff passed the course and have now received their qualification certificates.
“It’s really good for the community programme and it shows the standards we’re setting as a club,” said Paul Larvin, WFC’s Community Manager & Curriculum Co-ordinator.
“It’s raising the standards of PE and raising the standards of what we’re doing. I found about this qualification about two or three years ago now at a National Football League Trust meeting.
“This is very, very good practice for sports coaches to have this qualification, as well as a National Governing Body level two in a sport, to hit the criteria to deliver PE lessons in school.
“The staff have been going for the qualification for around 18 months now and thankfully all have passed and the certificates have come through ready for the start of next year.
“With the work we do with schools in the borough, it’s very important for us to make sure we’re setting the right standards and we’ve got the right qualifications.
“It puts us in good stead going forward.”
