AMADOU IT FOR THE HOMELESS

22 April 2016

Young striker and friends out to help the less fortunate...

SADDLERS striker, Amadou Bakayoko has teamed up with a group of friends to provide basic care packages for the homeless community.

Essential toiletries and health products will be given to those in need, inside what he refers to as “blessing bags”.

T-shirts with the slogan “Live, Love, Laugh” were created by Bakayoko and were sported by his Walsall team mates earlier this week in support of the movement.

The 20-year old revealed how a call from his Grandmother in Africa provided the inspiration for the idea which will involve around 15 of his friends.

“I spoke to her on the phone and it just sparked a thought,” he explains. “We didn’t want to get any official charity involved because it’s more of a personal mission to do something for the people who need it most.

“We’ll be going out in to town and talking to people. I want to hear their stories and find out what they need and how they got to the situation they’re in.

“We’re just a bunch of ypung adults who want to give something back. There’s about fifteen of us and we’re raising the money ourselves.

"There’s no appeal for monetary donations or anything like that but people can buy the t-shirts and all of the money raised will go towards buying things to go in the bags.

“I designed them just to raise awareness really but there's been a bit of interest in them. The lads put them on before the Southend game and had a few pictures taken in the changing rooms.

“If we can help out just one or two people then it will all be worthwhile.”
