Teenage talent to fight at the Banks's...

AMATEUR star Reuben Arrowsmith will make his eagerly anticipated professional debut at Banks's Stadium, Walsall on October 10th.

Trained by four-time world champion Ricky Hatton, the 19-year-old won five national titles in the vest and head guard and is confident of making his mark in the paid ranks.

He will box an as yet to be confirmed opponent over four rounds on the undercard of a bill topped by popular Stourbridge welterweight Steven "Fierce" Pearce and believes he'll take to the pros like the proverbial duck to water.

"It's great to have a date for my debut," Arrowsmith said. "I've not boxed since last October, but I've had high quality sparring with really good boxers and it's just a case of putting everything into practice now.

"The pros are different to the amateurs but my debut will be over four rounds and I'm used to doing three-threes so I don't think it's going to be a huge change for me.

"Obviously, when I get to six, eight and ten rounds, thinks will be more difficult, but Ricky and his assistant Mike [Jackson] know exactly what they're doing and will get me ready for any challenge."

Arrowsmith has been working with Hatton at his gym in Hyde, Greater Manchester since June and believes 'The Hitman' is the right man to help him realise his dream of becoming Market Harborough's first pro champion since George Aldridge set pulses racing back in the 1960s.

"The good thing about Ricky is that he trains fighters to their strengths. It's not all about getting in close and leading with the left hook, he teaches you how to use your advantages and set your shots up and I think I can go all the way with him."

Reuben said. "Ricky is a two weight world champion and fought the best of the best so I couldn't wish to learn from anyone else."

The October 10 bill is promoted by Black Country Boxing with tickets priced at £30 (unreserved seating) and £60 (stage and ringside).
