THE SADDLERS have today snapped up highly rated Manchester City youngster, George Evans, on a one-month loan deal.

The 20-year old can play as a central midfielder or central defender and will link up with Dean Smith’s men in time for our Sky Bet League One trip to Barnsley, subject to the necessary clearance.

A lifelong City fan, Evans joined his boyhood club at the age of 6 years old having impressed during a local tournament.

He worked his way through the Academy system before being handed his first senior appearance in September of this year when he replaced Yaya Toure in a 4-1 Capital One Cup victory over Sunderland.

Though the Cheadle-born starlet has experienced life in the Football league before, enjoying a loan spell with Crewe Alexandra in 2013 where he appeared 25 times for the Railway men.

He furthered his development with his second loan move away from the Etihad, joining Scunthorpe United in January. During his time at Glanford Park, Evans featured 16 times for Mark Robins’ side, providing some youthful exuberance in the centre of the park.

Evans rose to further prominence during City’s post-season tour of Canada and the US in May when he scored a stunning 35-yard strike against MLS outfit Toronto FC.

The son of former Man City player and physio Ronnie Evans, George’s talents have also been recognised by his country, representing England at various youth levels.
