PLEASURE BOYS: INTERVIEW WITH JOHN WOODWARD

9 October 2015

John Woodward discusses next week's show...

Big Brother’s Marc O’Neill and former X Factor contestant Jermaine Donegal are visiting the Banks’s Stadium as part of the UK Pleasure Boys on Friday, 16th October.

This all singing and dancing all-male troupe have been trained by the best choreographers in the UK to provide a sensational show of the very highest quality.

Saddlers.co.uk recently caught up with John Woodward, a member of the Pleasure Boys, to discuss next week’s performance...

Q: So John, how much are you looking forward to performing at Walsall FC?
JW: It’s our home show. We’re putting more guys on for this – ten rather than the usual eight – than any other show. It’s our home ground and we’ll be looking to make sure that everything is perfect.
It’ll be our first time at the Banks’s Stadium but we chose it for a reason. A lot of people suggested Walsall FC as a venue. It has a huge room for us to perform in and the stage is perfect for what we do.
Most of the guys who work for UK Pleasure Boys are Midlands based so it’s extremely important that we pull this one out of the bag – not that they don’t every other time. But for this one, they’ll be going the extra mile. There will be an extra routine at the end which will only be done on this particular tour date.

Q: what is the group’s background?
JW: We were all solo male strippers and from there we moved on to become the first-ever lap dancing club for women in the UK, called Tricky Dicky’s. We developed some of the guys and trained them from being hosts into lap dancers and that’s when we formed the Pleasure Boys.
We've started to move from being more mature guys – men in their 30s – to younger guys between 19 to 26 years old. We’ve got a physiotherapist, a tattooist and even a stripping scientist!

Q: What will be the order of events?
JW: The show will start around 8:30pm and a drag host will go out and warm up the crowd. From there it kicks into the technical side of things. A projection screen and stories will go on behind the boys while they’re performing, so it’s not just a normal strip show.

Q: Finally, what should people expect?
JW: A lot of sexy guys dancing and performing. There’ll be singing from Jermaine Donegal, who was on the X Factor, and we’ve also got the madness of Marc O’Neill from Big Brother. Then we’ve also got the glamour side of things from the drag artist, with all the feathers and the head dresses.
