Two good results for the Saddlers' international stars...
JASON DEMETRIOU - CYPRUSRight-back Jason Demetriou kept Cyprus’ Euro 2016 qualification hopes alive with the winning goal in a surprise 2-1 victory over Israel in Jerusalem.
Dossa Junior’s header put the visitors ahead on 58 minutes before Nir Bitton’s stunning long-range effort restored parity.
But with ten minutes remaining, Demetriou found the top corner with a ferocious right-footed drive - his first international goal - to stun the hosts.
The White and Blues’ victory also confirmed Wales’ place in next summer’s finals, despite their 2-0 defeat in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Cyprus remain in fifth position in Group B but can still join Wales – and group leaders Belgium – in Euro 2016.
Pambos Christodoulou's side must win against Bosnia tomorrow evening and hope Israel fail to beat Belgium.
If that happens, Cyprus will qualify for the play-offs.
NEIL ETHERIDGE – THE PHILIPPINES
Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge played the full 90 minutes of the Philippines’ goalless draw against North Korea in World Cup 2018 qualifying.
After the match, Etheridge tweeted: “Great 0-0 away from home against a very strong North Korea side. Clean sheet and a great performance from everyone.”
A draw leaves the Azkals third in Group H - three points behind leaders North Korea.
The Philippines’ next match is against Bahrain tomorrow.
