2014/15 Season

7th March 2015 – Barnsley 3-0 Walsall – League One
A brace from George Waring gave Barnsley a comfortable win when the two sides last met. The striker, on loan from Stoke, poked home Conor Hourihane’s corner to put the Tykes in front on 15 minutes. Waring doubled their lead with a low strike after the break, before substitute Sam Winnall added a third in the closing stages.
Saddlers team:O’Donnell, Purkiss (O’Connor 45’), Taylor, Downing, J Chambers, A Chambers, Sawyers, Baxendale (Grimes 45’), Flanagan (Cain 69’), Bradshaw, Hiwula-Mayifuila.
Subs not used: MacGillivray, Preston, Mantom, Bakayoko.


13th December 2014 – Walsall 3-1 Barnsley – League One
Jordan Cook scored twice as Walsall came from behind to beat Barnsley. Lewin Nyatanga’s free header put the visitors ahead on 29 minutes, but Cook equalised moments later with a magnificent half-volley. Tom Bradshaw drilled the Saddlers in front, and Cook sealed the three points in stoppage time.
Saddlers team:O’Donnell, Purkiss, Downing, J Chambers, Henry, A Chambers, Sawyers, Baxendale (Forde 68’), Cain, Bradshaw (Manset 87’), Cook.
Subs not used: MacGillivray, O’Connor, Benning, Flanagan, Grimes.



2005/06 Season

6th May 2006 - Walsall 1-2 Barnsley – League One
Barnsley secured a place in the League One play-offs with victory at ten-man Walsall on the final day of the season. Marc Richards broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark, but Dean Keates levelled for the Saddlers with a 59th-minute penalty. Ian Roper was sent off for the hosts, and Daniel Nardiello won and then converted a late spot-kick to make it 2-1.
Saddlers team:
Oakes, Pead, Gerrard, Mills, Roper, Fox, Wright (Demontagnac 39’), K Taylor (D Taylor 45’), Keates, Barrowman (Constable 68’), James.
Subs not used: Gilmartin, Standing.


17th January 2006 – Walsall 2-0 Barnsley – FA Cup Replay
Second-half goals from Michael Leary and Kevin James booked the Saddlers’ place in the FA Cup fourth round. Leary rounded Barnsley keeper Nick Colgan to open the scoring after the break, and Nottingham Forest loanee James headed home their second with 12 minutes remaining.

7th January 2006 – Barnsley 1-1 Walsall – FA Cup
Paul Hayes scored his tenth goal of the season to earn Barnsley a replay. Walsall appeared on course for victory when Kevin James fired past Tykes keeper Nick Colgan on 73 minutes, but Hayes salvaged a draw with a composed finish just moments later.

Oakes, Pead, Bennett, Gerrard, Roper, Fox, Osborn, Wright, Leary, Timm (Nicholls 88’), James.
Subs not used: Gilmartin, Westwood, Standing, Kinsella.


29th October 2005 – Barnsley 2-1 Walsall – League One
Barnsley climbed into a League One play-off berth after Brian Howard’s second-half volley sealed a hard-fought success. Walsall fell behind to Paul Hayes’ 13th-minute opener and they were then reduced to ten men when Craig Pead was sent off for violent conduct. Matty Fryatt restored parity on 63 minutes, but Howard netted Barnsley’s winner three minutes later.
