Saddlers draw Midland League outfit in second round...
AFTER turning in a professional display against Boldmere St.Michaels in the opening round of the Walsall Senior Cup, John Ward and Richard O'Kelly will take a side to The City Ground on Tuesday 15th December to face near neighbours Lichfield City.The second round draw provided the Saddlers with another away tie in our bid to defend the trophy, this time against a side managed by former Walsall front man, Gary Birch.
The 34-year old made nearly 50 appearances for the club after progressing through the centre of excellence in the late 1990's.
Now in charge of Midland League Division 1 side Lichfield City, Birch’s men currently sit in 4th place in the 10th tier of non-league football, ten points behind leaders Coventry United.
The Saddlers are the holders of the Walsall Senior Cup following our thrilling 4-3 extra time triumph over Chasetown earlier this year.
