Dornan remembers last League goal at Fellows Park...

BELIEVE it or not, it is exactly a quarter-of-a-century since the last-ever League goal was scored at Fellows Park as we played out a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United.

The honour of scoring The Saddlers’ final goal at our former home went to Scottish full-back, Andy Dornan, who was hardly a regular on the scoresheet.

“It was my one and only goal for the club – at the right end,” he said with a smile. “I didn’t get that many goals during my career but to get such a significant one in the history of Walsall FC is a nice achievement, and something that no-one can ever take away from me.

“I had some good times at the club and it was great to come back to the game against Notts County recently and chat to supporters who remembered me and also see some familiar faces from the past, like Kenny Mower and Paul Jones.

“It was the first time I had been back for quite a while, probably about 20 years, but the welcome I received was warm and I am proud of my association with the club.

“As I approached Banks’s Stadium, the memories did start to come flooding back as I passed the site of where Fellows Park used to be.”
