THE GAFFER'S VERDICT

28 March 2015

Smith on set-back at Chesterfield...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has given his verdict on our 1-0 set-back at Chesterfield as we fell to a late goal.

“We didn’t deserve that result,” he said. “It was a generally solid performance; we defended well and whilst our use of the ball could have been better, it was a game that we deserved to take something from.

“They shaded it in the first half and had a bit more of the ball, but after the break we were the main aggressors and particularly after we changed our system, we looked like we could go on and win it.

“The manner in which we conceded the goal was disappointing, but we have to pick ourselves up and concentrate on the next game now.

“I felt that we competed a lot better today. There was a steeliness and determination about us, qualities that we have to take into these remaining games.

“It’s not quite happening for us results-wise at the moment, but we will regroup and continue showing togetherness and spirit.

“Every game is a battle and we’re ready for the challenge.”
