Woods delighted with youth team display...

THE SADDLERS' youth team played out a 1-1 draw at Burnley in The Football League Youth Alliance.

"On a very heavy pitch, which was just about playable, we put a particularly young side out with some of the second-year lads being involved with the reserves earlier in the week," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We started the game well and created a number of early chances.

"We took a deserved lead with a well-worked team goal which was finished off by Levi Rowley.

"The attitude to the conditions and the game from our boys was fantastic, but unfortunately our hosts broke just before the break and levelled with a rare chance.

"I wasn't too disappointed at the break as we had played some good stuff and we continued to dominate in the second half.

"Despite our dominance, the winning goal would not come and we had to settle for a share of the spoils.

"All things considered, I was delighted with the performances of our young lads. They really stepped up to the plate and it was a good afternoon's work."

WALSALL: Jezeph, J. Smith, Cockerill-Mollett, Sangha, Roberts (K. Rowley), R. Smith, Kouhyar, Owen, Shakespeare, L. Rowley, Pooni. Subs not used: R. Reid, Delaney, Oliver.
