FRUSTRATION FOR SMITH

7 March 2015

Boss on defeat at Barnsley...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, was a frustrated man after seeing his side go down to a 3-0 defeat in difficult conditions at Barnsley.

“It was a poor game played in poor conditions,” he said. “Both teams had to play a different game to usual and they defended better than we did.

“Their first goal was frustrating as the lad has put it in with his hand then the second and third goals are poor play from our point of view.

“I felt that we started the second half well and played more in their half, but other than that it was a scrappy game.

“It was disappointing that we couldn’t play our usual passing game and they played the % game better. You have to come to places like this and compete, but we didn’t do it well enough today.

“We have two important home games coming up now where we have to get our home form right.

“It was good to have Sam Mantom back on the bench today; he’s trained well but needs pitch time, which he will get for the reserves during the week.

“We’re also hopeful of having Anthony Forde and Jordan Cook back for the next game.”
