CHAMBERS IN POSITIVE MOOD

17 March 2015

Skipper upbeat ahead of Blades' clash...

SKIPPER, Adam Chambers, has taken the positives out of Saturday’s performance in our 1-1 draw with MK Dons and expressed his delight at the return of Sam Mantom to the starting line-up.

“It’s the best we’ve played at home for a while,” he said. “MK Dons are a good side who came to attack, so we had to make sure that we were at our best defensively and play quickly in order to exploit the spaces that they left.

“The game ebbed and flowed with both teams having the momentum at different stages. In hindsight, a draw was probably a fair result, although we did create the better chances in the second half.”

Chambers was joined in the engine room of the team by Sam Mantom, who was making his first start of the season.

“It was great to see Sam back,” he added. “It’s a credit to the hard work that he has put in that he slotted straight back in and never looked like he had been away.

“He put in a first-class display and deservedly took the Man of the Match accolade from the sponsors.

“As a team we need to maintain the standards for the visit of Sheffield United in what will be another tough game for us against another of League One’s fancied sides.”
