SAWYERS ON TARGET IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

12 June 2015

Saddlers number 10 fires Sugar Boyz in front...

ROMAINE Sawyers was on the score sheet for St.Kitts and Nevis in their World Cup Qualifying first-leg draw with El Salvador on Friday morning.

The Saddlers number 10 played a delightful back heel into Devaghan Elliott for a neat one-two, before selling a trademark dummy to stroke the ball in off the near post.

Sawyers’ 71st minute strike put the Sugar Boyz 2-1 up in the game as they looked to take a first-leg lead to El Salvador in five days time.

Former Walsall winger, Febian Brandy, lined up alongside Sawyers for the home side who looked the more dangerous over the course of the 90 minutes.

But with the clock ticking down, El Salvador forward Nelson Bonilla escaped his marker to head home an equaliser five minutes from time to earn his side a 2-2 draw.

The two sides will do it all again in five days time at the Estadio Cuscatlan, Central American’s largest football venue.
