CHAMBERS BACK IN THE SWING

Skipper looking forward to the challenge that 2015/16 holds in store...

SKIPPER, Adam Chambers and the rest of the first-team squad returned to pre-season training on Wednesday morning.

The experienced 34 year-old is delighted to have extended his stay at the club having signed a new one-year deal earlier this week and is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead this season.

“I am chuffed that everything has been sorted,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed my time here and it’s good to know that I will remain part of it.

“It was an honour to be given the captain’s armband at the start of last season; we had some real high and a few lows along the way.

“To be the first captain to lead the team out at Wembley was an extremely proud moment for me and my family.

“We put in some great performances and did well against some of the top teams last season, but inconsistency let us down in the end.

“The aim has to be to get into that top six this time around and having kept the nucleus of the team together, we’ll keep improving and with a few new additions, we can be a real force.

“We know what we are capable of and we’ll be looking to get that level of consistency that we need.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into it. Pre-season training is not something I particularly look forward to, but it is necessary to get us back to the required level for when the matches start again.”
