Saddlers back on the road...
WE TAKE on a Colchester United side who go into the game on the back of a good result at Peterborough United in their last game. They have gone with a more youthful line-up this season and I expect them to go into the game with their confidence high.Based on our recent performances on the road, we will also approach the game with confidence. We know that we've fallen below the standards that we have set ourselves at home over the last three games, but on our travels we have been in good form, and hopefully this can continue at the weekend.
We go into every game targetting three points and Saturday will be no different; we will go there and play our usual game.
It's a case of taking last Saturday's result on the chin; I don't want to dwell on it too much but our defending let us down and it is something that we have been working on in training this week.
On the injury front, it's just Sam Mantom who will be missing. He is seeing a surgeon on Friday as we look to get to the bottom of the knee problem that has laid him low this season. It's been a frustrating situation but one that we are working hard to resolve.
There are ongoing conversations to extend Michael Cain's loan here for the rest of the season. He's a young lad who has come in and done really well and benefitted from being here, so hopefully we can keep him here.
There are a few other irons in the fire; we're looking all the time for players who we feel can come in and strengthen us, whilst we've had a few enquiries to take some of our players on loan. It's a case of watch this space at the moment, though.
Thank you to those who will be making the long trip at the weekend. Your support and backing is always important to us.
