SMITH ON SKY BLUE SET-BACK

Boss assesses home reverse...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has given his verdict on our 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Coventry City in our opening game of 2015.

"I was angry with the start we made," he admitted. "We were sloppy and slow and gave the ball away too many times.

"We knew that they would start on the front-foot and be in our faces straight away but we gave them a lift early on and you can't afford to do that in this League.

"We were much better in the second half and I didn't feel that we deserved to lose the game in the end.

"There was a spell during that second period when we were well on top and we've hit the woodwork and their 'keeper has pulled off a few good saves. We needed to score when we were on top and had we done so, I felt we would have then gone on to win the game.

"But in the end I was most disappointed about the way in which we started the game."

James Chambers was forced off with a bruised toe, but hopefully it isn't too serious and he will be in contention for Wednesday's trip to Preston North End in the Northern Area Final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
