Boss assesses home reverse...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has given his account of our 4-1 home reverse at the hands of Scunthorpe United.

"We were in total control and bossing it for the opening 25 minutes or so," he said. "Then our first bit of loose play ends with them taking the lead and this is followed by some poor defending to give them a two-goal advantage.

"It was similar to our game at Tranmere where we went in at half-time wondering how we were two goals behind.

"I said to the lads that it could go either way and, to be fair, they responded in the right way at the start of the second half and deservedly got ourselves back into it.

"Unfortunately they were handed an opportunity for a third goal from the penalty spot and it killed us as we were in the ascendency at that stage and I fancied us to go on and win the game.

"The fourth goal was more poor defending and it means that it is three home defeats on the spin, which is disappointing."
