TEAM TALK v ROCHDALE, 10/2/15

10 February 2015

Boss looking to build momentum...

WE GO into the game on the back of another winning away day at the weekend as we overcame the challenge of Doncaster Rovers.

The lads worked really hard for the victory; we had to defend a lot of balls into our box but we showed a resilience and determination to keep another clean sheet and bring home maximum points.

Some of our play was a little loose at times, but we broke at pace and scored two good goals with Jordan Cook giving us an early lead before Jordy Hiwula made an instant impact having come off the substitutes’ bench for his debut.

It’s a difficult place to go to, but we ran out worthy winners in the end to complete the double over our hosts this season. Hopefully we can build upon that momentum this evening against a Rochdale side who have done really well so far this season.

It’s important that we get back into winning ways on home soil. We can only control our performances and the performances here have been decent in recent weeks, but we need the results to go alongside them.

Rochdale will provide tough opposition this evening. Keith Hill and Chris Beech have done a terrific job and have got a talented group of players who work extremely hard for each other and we know that we will have to be at the top of our game.

They are well-organised and have a great work ethic and will-to-win which is serving them well as they have found themselves challenging at the right end of the table for much of the season.

It was nice to see Jordy Hiwula come in and do well on his debut at the weekend. His first three touches were fantastic and I was delighted to see him opening his scoring account within five minutes of entering the action.

He looked bright and his display will give him a big boost.

There is plenty of competition for places now and that can only help us. We’ve got a lot of games coming up in a short space of time and it’s a real chance for us to get into a run of results.

Your support, as ever, is going to be crucial in our quest to continue pushing up the League table. You gave us superb backing at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday and more of the same is going to be required in these forthcoming home games this week.
