Boss looks back at the action as Dale are defeated...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has given his verdict on our 3-2 victory over Rochdale.

"We were outstanding in the opening 30 minutes," he said. "We broke well, created chances and everything went to plan.

"I thought that our two wide players were fantastic but they were both struggling with tight groins at half-time and Fordey had to be replaced at the break.

"We were too loose on the ball at the start of the second half and it encouarged them. We were sloppy for their first goal and it gave them a lift as we started to look nervy.

"That said, there were a lot of positives to come out of the game as we beat a good team. It's three goals at home and three points, so we have to be pleased with that.

"We took our goals very well and whilst it feels a little disappointing because we were three goals up and were hanging on a bit, the aim of the game is to score more than the opposition and we did that.

"It's nice to have taken six points from these last two tough games and it gives us a big boost to take into Saturday's home clash with Port Vale, which will be another hard-fought battle I'm sure.

"We're edging ever nearer to the 50-point mark and once we get there, we'll see what happens after that."
