QUICK OFF THE MARK

9 February 2015

Goalscoring debut for Hiwula...

EMERGING loan star, Jordy Hiwula, made the perfect start to his Saddlers’ career with a goal less than five minutes after entering the action.

The 20 year-old put in a lively 25-minute display at the Keepmoat Stadium as his header sealed a 2-0 victory.

“I wanted to get off the mark as quickly as possible, so to score four minutes after coming on was great for me,” he said. “I made a run in front of the defender and the cross was just right for me to head home.

“I only arrived on Thursday but the lads have really welcomed me into the group and I am delighted that I was able to play my part in the win.

“I learned a lot during my loan spell at Yeovil earlier in the season and I can really benefit from that experience here.

“Playing competitive football and being away from home and my usual environment can only help in my development.

“When Walsall came in for me, I wanted to come here because I know that this club has a reputation for developing young players and the style of football is really good.

“Hopefully I can do well here and help us get a few wins which would put us right up there in the play-off places.

“There is a lot of skill and ability here. The lads have an eye for a pass and a shot and I will bring versatility as I can play through the middle, out wide or as a ‘number ten’.

“I can’t wait for Tuesday’s game to come around now.”
