Youngster hungry for more senior action...
THERE was a first taste of senior action for emerging front-man, Jordan Murphy, at the weekend. The teenager, who joined the club in September having impressed whilst coming through the ranks at Stourbridge, entered the action during the second half and put in an impressive display.
“It was a big relief when the Gaffer told me that I was going on,” he said. “I’ve been close to getting on before, but I felt that I had something to give to the game and was excited to get on and show what I could do.
“I felt that I gave a good account of myself. Of course, there are always areas that need improvement, and I’ve been through some of the clips today.
“It was a difficult game to come into; we needed to stretch the play but we were on the front-foot whilst I was on and finished strongly.
“We were just unlucky not to get anything out of the game in the end.”
Birmingham-born Murphy is pleased with his development since arriving at the club.
“The work I have done on the training ground and also going out on loan to Worcester City means that I have a lot more confidence in myself and my ability,” he added. “I’ve got a taste for it now; my aim is to get more appearances under my belt and give the Gaffer a tough decision to make.
“This is a good opportunity for me to show that I mean business and really kick-on. I intend to continue working hard and take this chance.”
