Former Saddler passes away...

WE ARE sad to report the passing of former Saddlers' player, Geoff Morris.

A talented outside-left, he arrived at Fellows Park as a 15 year-old in the summer of 1964 before turning professional in February 1966.

He made his League debut for the club at the age of just 16 years and 218 days in a game against Scunthorpe United in September 1965 and in doing so became our youngest-ever player at senior level.

Going on to make 201 appearances for the club in all competitions, he was leading scorer in 1971/72 with 12 goals before moving on to join Shrewsbury Town at the turn of 1973.

He went on to have a spell at Port Vale as he brought the curtain down on his professional career and later served Kidderminster Harriers.

The thoughts of everyone here at Walsall FC go out to his family and friends at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
