BOSS ON GILLS DRAW

1 February 2015

Smith assesses the Sunday action...

THE SADDLERS and Gillingham played out yet another draw, our sixth in succession against the Kent club, at a chilly Banks's Stadium.

"It was a competitive game," said manager, Dean Smith. "We were the better team in the first half and should have gone in at the break in front.

"We didn't take our chances and failed to get our reward.

"Our visitors managed to take their chance after the break and going a goal down, it would have been easy to have lost the game, but we stuck at it and I was pleased to see Ashley Grimes score his first of the season.

"We had further chances after that to have won the game, but unfortunately it wasn't to be in the end and both teams had to settle for a point.

"With a bit of luck here and there we could have got the win, but overall I felt that we were the better team and it's another point to our total."
