BOSS AGGRIEVED WITH CLINCHER

Smith on our set-back at Deepdale...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 1-0 set-back at Preston North End as our long unbeaten away League run finally came to an end.

“It’s disappointing,” he said. “There were too many five out of ten performances and not enough seven and eights, to be fair.

“We started slowly and were poor on the ball during the first half. It’s not like us to take so long to get going, but we improved after the break and controlled it.

“The goal that eventually beat us should never have stood. There was a clear foul on Rico in the build-up and now the lad is in hospital awaiting an x-ray after his shoulder popped out.

“I feel aggrieved but we move on now to the next game and look to get back into winning ways.

“There were positives to take out of the game; Romaine Sawyers did well when he came on and showed me how much he wants to be out there playing.”

Paul Downing was missing with a slight thigh strain whilst Tom Bradshaw was laid low with a flu bug. Both players are expected to be back in contention for the next game.
