PRESTON 0-2 WALSALL – JPT Northern Area final first leg
Walsall moved a step closer to a first Wembley appearance after scoring two goals in the final six minutes to beat Preston in the JPT northern area final first leg. Both sides created first-half chances, with Jermaine Beckford twice testing visiting keeper Richard O’Donnell, while Walsall's Andy Taylor rattled a post. The Saddlers took an 84th-minute lead through Anthony Forde's curling free-kick and Tom Bradshaw then calmly slotted home to put Walsall in control heading into the second leg...
WALSALL 0-0 PRESTON - JPT Northern Area final second leg
The Saddlers booked their first-ever trip to Wembley Stadium after beating Preston 2-0 on aggregate to reach the JPT final. After a quiet first-half, Tom Bradshaw, Romaine Sawyers and Andy Taylor each went close to extending Walsall's aggregate lead. In a frantic finale, Preston's Sylvan Ebanks-Blake hit the bar, home keeper Richard O'Donnell made four fine saves and Paul Downing cleared off the line - but the Saddlers held on to create history.
WALSALL 5-0 CRAWLEY - League One
Jordy Hiwula bagged a brace as the Saddlers hit five past relegation-threatened Crawley. The Manchester City loanee fired Walsall ahead on 16 minutes and doubled the lead with a curling second-half strike. Kieron Morris hammered home a third before Andy Taylor's deflected effort made it 4-0. Substitute Jordan Cook slotted in to complete the rout in stoppage time.
