PADDOCK: "I'M NO DJ!"

11 December 2015

Bloxwich Super Lightweight gears up for Banks's return...

BLOXWICH Super Lightweight, Luke Paddock insists he won’t loose sleep over his first professional defeat of his career.

The 23-year old was on the wrong end of a narrow 95-96 scorecard in September following a pulsating 10 rounds with Stoke scrapper Andy Keates.

Paddock returns to the scene of the crime on December 18thto headline Black Country Boxing’s ‘Christmas Cracker’ event at The Banks’s Stadium and insists his first professional defeat will be quickly be forgotten.

“As a boxer, you can’t be afraid to lose a fight,” said Paddock.“Some of the very best fighters have suffered defeats at some stage in their career.

“That one’s out the way now so it’s all about looking to the future and Chris Adaway on the 18th.

“I always felt under a bit of pressure defending that 0 to be honest.

“I think it’s because I’ve never been particularly bothered about records.

“If I cared about records, I’d be a DJ!”

Paddock steps in the ring with Plymouth pugilist, Chris Adaway, for the British Master Super Lightweight Title, admitting his foe is a man he knows little about.

“I don’t know too much other than he’s a livewire,” he added.

“I’ve seen him a few times. I watched him against Lee Glover and he put up a great fight against him.

“Considering Lee is a good lad as well he had a real good go. I’m just going to switch on as I do with all my opponents.

“I don’t tend to go into any real depth with watching footage of opponents because I think you can start to play mind games with yourself.

“I’ll let my coaches take care of that side of things and I’ll do what I do in the gym.

“I’ve got to keep performing, get back to winning ways and hopefully I’ll get my shot at something big very soon.”

Tickets are still available for £60, inclusive of a three-course dinner.
