First ever visit to Globe Arena on 1st September...
WALSALL Football Club can confirm that our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, first round tie against Morecambe will take place on Tuesday 1st September (kick-off 7.45).
It will be the clubs first ever visit to the Globe Arena to take on the Shrimpers who began their League Two campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Hartlepool at the weekend.
Jim Bentley’s men are enjoying their 9th consecutive season in the Football League after gaining promotion from the conference in 2007.
The Saddlers reached the final of the competition last year, beating Rochdale, Sheffield United, Tranmere Rovers and Preston North End to reach Wembley for the first time in the clubs history.
Morecambe’s best run in the competition came in their inaugural season in the Football League, defeating Tranmere Rovers, Port Vale, Hartlepool and Bury before narrowly missing out on a final appearance to Grimsby Town.
