Saddlers overcome Brocton challenge...

THE SADDLERS were made to work hard to secure our passage into the Final of the Walsall Senior Cup as we overcame the challenge of Brocton.

Goals from Jake Heath and Reece Flanagan earned us a 2-1 win as we now face Chasetown in the Final, which will be played here at Banks’s Stadium on Monday, April 27th.

“It’s nice to get to the Final of any competition, and it’s particularly good for the young lads,” said Richard O’Kelly. “On the night we were well-organised and competed well, which we needed to do.

“Both of our goals were well-taken, to put us two goals in front, but the next stage of development for these young lads is when we are in a position of strength, certain characteristics and skills need to be applied.

“The quicker we develop these attributes, the better it will be for individuals and the group as a whole.

“That said, we managed to get the victory in the end and now we look forward to the Final.”

WALSALL: MacGillivray, Kinsella, Benning, K. Rowley, Preston, Heath, Baxendale, Flanagan, Bakayoko, Murphy, Henry. Subs: Smith, Shakespeare, Delaney, Probert, Jezeph.
