PLENTY OF POSITIVES FOR WOODS

7 April 2015

Youth team slip to narrow defeat despite impressive display...

THE SADDLERS' youth team slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town in a game where we found ourselves on top for long periods.

"The game was played on a 4G surface, which was excellent," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "For the first 35 minutes we played some of our best football of the season.

"We were positive in our play and our movement was outstanding, but despite creating countless chances, we couldn't put the ball in the net, which seems to be a trait running through the club at the moment.

"Our hosts made it more difficult for us after the restart, they came out stronger but we continued to enjoy the majority of possession.

"It was a mistake which led to their goal, but we refused to let our heads drop and continued trying to do the right things and play the right way.

"I'd say that there was 90% positive and 10% negative to come out of this game."

WALSALL: Jezeph, J. Smith, Cockerill, Sangha, K. Rowley, Probert, Kouhyar, Delaney (Oliver), Shakespeare, L. Rowley, Owen (Pooni). Subs not used: Caswell, R. Smith, Roberts.
