YOUNGSTERS WIN AGAIN

16 September 2014

Youth team come home with victory...

THE SADDLERS' youth team returned from Morecambe with a deserved 1-0 victory.

"On a difficult surface, we started the game at a good tempo," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We managed to get control of the game very early on and created numerous chances, which, sadly, we were unable to capitalise upon.

"We eventually went in front during the opening period when Luke Delaney did well to cross the ball in for Raekwan Smith to head home.

"The lads played some purposeful football and the only disappointment at the break was that we were not further ahead than just a single-goal.

"To be fair to our hosts, they made life more difficult for us at the start of the second period, but we were never in any real danger and went on to hit the bar twice and also see a goal ruled out for offside.

"There were a few anxious moments near the end due to the fact that we hadn't killed the game off, but the boys managed to see the game out and secure the points.

"I was pleased with the attitude and work rate displayed and it was nice to come home with another three points."

WALSALL: Jezeph, Ottley, Lewis, K. Rowley, Probert, R. Smith, Kouhyar, Delaney, Shakespeare, L. Rowley (Sangha), Oliver (Reid). Subs not used: Owen, Maddocks, A. Smith.
