Sawyers has a spring in his step...
ROMAINE Sawyers returned from International Duty with a spring in his step on Saturday as his lively, Man of the Match performance and first League goal of the season gave us a welcome – and thoroughly deserved – 3-1 victory over Preston North End.The 22 year-old played three games for St. Kitts & Nevis whilst away and opened his scoring account for the season during this time in the Caribbean.
“It was a big relief to get off the mark with that goal for St. Kitts & Nevis,” he admitted. “It certainly gave me a boost and I am pleased that I was able to take it into Saturday’s game and weigh in with another goal.
“The hope now is that I can push on from here and as a team we can build some momentum from this first win and secure a few more victories.
“The whole team enjoyed the performance against a good side and now we need to build on this momentum at Rochdale this evening.
“The reception that I received from the fans when I came off at the weekend really made me feel good about myself. I know that my performance levels weren’t previously up to the levels that I know I am capable of, so to play well and get the appreciation from the fans was nice.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out there again tonight and hopefully I can help us secure another three points.”
