CLIFFORD EYES FIRST WIN

12 September 2014

Midfield man gunning for three points at the weekend...

MIDFIELD man, Billy Clifford, is enjoying life at Banks's Stadium - the only thing missing so far is that elusive first win of the season.

"I'm enjoying it," said the former Chelsea youngster. "The fans have taken to me, which always helps, and I feel that we have been unfortunate in a number of games so far.

"We believe in what we are doing and once that first win arrives, I feel that we can really push on and get ourselves on a run.

"If we continue to do the right things and keep working and training hard, we will be okay. Hopefully that win will come on Saturday.

"We've showed that we can play some nice football, but maybe we need to find a scrappy goal just to set things off.

"All teams need that bit of luck along the way, and we are due some, so it would be nice to think that we can get that at the weekend and pick up a good three points.

"We want to be up there challenging; it's a case of worrying what we do rather than the opposition, although I will say that Preston have some quality in their side and will be strong this year."

Clifford was keen to stress the role that the supporters have to play.

"They have been fantastic since I have been here," he added. "It's been frustrating for us all at times so far because we feel that we should have more points on the board, but if we stick together it will give us that extra belief and confidence."
